What
about NEURO LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING (NLP) ?
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was born at the University
of Santa Cruz, California, during the 70ies, thanks to two young
Americans, John Grinder, graduated in linguistics and
Richard Bandler, graduated in programming and informatics. Basing
upon the analysis of some therapeutic methods (Fritz Perl, Virginia
Satir, Milton Erickson and Moshe Feldenkrais), they did not develop a
“THEORY”, but a series of practical “MODELS” to help anyone to get to
EXCELLENCE.
In real terms this means HOW to allow anyone to find, to define
and to get to the things we expect: to feel well, to find a
balance point, to develop confidence and self-esteem, to successfully
communicate and therefore be able to help oneself and the others, to
define and get to goals, to get rid of negative habits and dependences
(smoking and eating too much are the most common), to go beyond blue
moods, stress, fear, to know how to control one’s limiting emotions,
to feel free to have choices and opportunities, to work more
effectively, to be a good leader for one’s group, to learn faster and
more easily, to find one’s balance and harmony, even with others, and
even more, in short to get to one’s personal success regaining
possession of one’s life, without needing any magic wands or
elixirs, but only simply rediscovering our unique and powerful natural
resources inside ourselves.
The definition of NLP, which stands for:
NEURO: our behaviour, data from our sense organs, our
experiences, are processed through neurological process and mental
structures (our nervous system).
LINGUISTIC: our language is the way we express our processing
of personal experience. Language is communication (verbal and
non-verbal as well).
PROGRAMMING: any behaviour derives from a “software”, which
processes the way we perceive the world through the sense organs and
our experience (a mental software). We can therefore choose to change,
or voluntarily, re-program our behaviour.
The Neuro Linguistic Programmer goes with the person through a
personal path towards self improvement, independent development of
personal capability, overcoming of limiting position, so that the
person is able to obtain what is really important (ecological goals).
